Abbott (NYSE: ABT) announces that it has launched an upgraded version of its NeuroSphere™ myPath™ digital health app to help doctors more closely track their patients as they trial Abbott neurostimulation devices to manage chronic pain. Available on both Apple and Android devices, the Abbott digital health app allows providers, care teams, and the patient to have a shared view of patient-reported outcome measures through each stage of the treatment journey while trying a Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) or Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG) therapy device. This upgrade is part of Abbott’s pledge to connected care technology intended to put individuals in control of their health and foster better communication with their doctors.
Abbott Digital Health: Patient-Reported Results, Delivered in Real-Time
More than 50 million Americans live with chronic pain. SCS and DRG therapy can help address chronic pain by interrupting the pain signals traveling along the spinal cord or the dorsal root ganglia, a cluster of nerves along the spine before reaching the brain. The design of the Abbott’s NeuroSphere myPath digital health app is to allow patients to track and report their pain relief and general well-being. These insights help doctors understand where patients are in the journey and how they respond to therapy to inform their treatment plan better, a fundamental goal of Abbott’s connected care approach.
The NeuroSphere™ myPath™ Digital Health app runs on the NeuroSphere™ Digital Care connected care management platform compatible only with Abbott’s suite of neuromodulation systems. For patients, the NeuroSphere™ myPath™ App gives patients undergoing an SCS or DRG trial the ability to track, analyze, and report pain relief and general well-being associated with pain management, according to Abbott’s website. Patients will have the ability to share therapy progress and access educational resources, receive daily surveys and wellness insights and view personalized progress reports to track outcomes. For providers, the NeuroSphere myPath digital health app allows care teams to track patient progress with patient-reported results, delivered in real-time. According to the website, providers will have a dashboard to view clinician progress tracking reports with metrics on pain and quality of life improvements.
The NeuroSphere myPath app is part of a family of apps Abbott has created under the Neurosphere name, including Neurosphere Virtual Clinic. Neurosphere Virtual Clinic is a first-of-its-kind technology in the U.S., giving patients the flexibility and comfort of receiving care anywhere by connecting with their doctor via secure in-app video chat and an integrated remote programming feature. It enables clinicians to prescribe new treatment settings remotely to the patient’s neurostimulation device using the clinician programmer app and a secure and straightforward remote care connection.
Our continued advancement of the NeuroSphere myPath app is part of Abbott’s commitment to developing new connected health technology that has the potential to bridge the gap between people and their doctors. Both the myPath digital app and our NeuroSphere Virtual Clinic allow us to deliver a more personalized and proactive approach to how advanced diseases are managed that are changing how people access healthcare around the world.

Continued Adoption of Digital Health Tools
Change has long been a constant in healthcare, but it has dramatically accelerated in recent years. Digital health tools that facilitate innovative methods and modalities to improve care, enable lifestyle change, and create efficiencies are progressing quickly. The digitalization of healthcare provides a better healthcare delivery experience for both patients and clinicians. Digital is becoming so intertwined with health care that it’s now to be expected by patients.
As healthcare organizations move toward offering more personalized care solutions, they will increasingly need to rely on software and hardware solutions to support these initiatives. The view of digital health solutions is that they are long-term investments that, if implemented correctly, will net great returns. Understanding consumer attitudes and preferences across the patient journey can be central to supporting healthy behaviors, achieving better health outcomes, and improving the patient experience.
